Artistic doctoral studies - concerts 14th and 19th of May Since autumn 2007 Susanne is, in a collaboration between
Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Sibelius Academy in Helsinki,
studying on artistic doctral studies. Each year there will be a
examination concert. This years concert "ReBoot/ OmStart"
is described like this by Susanne:
ReeBoot/OmStart Susanne Rosenberg folk singing
In this concert my starting point is the traditional folk songs
and the traditional folk singing style that is the core of my expression
as a singer. It has been so for over twentyfive years and I have
used it in all kind of contexts, not only within traditional folk
singing but also within other musical genres and in connection with
other art forms, such as theatre and design.
After many years of exploring this singing style in new contexts,
it feels like I have reached a point when I need to “reverse”
into what originally got me to start with folk singing. I wanted
to start with small means of expression, the individual interpretation.
Solo. To tell a story with simple means. One voice. Some bells.
An ocarina.
The voice is a wonderful instrument with regards to its flexibility.
But one does not need to explore all possibilities all the time?
My idea is that it might be possible, by starting in small variations,
to calibrate your ears and senses to discover more subtle nuances,
that are usually neglected in our very loud and noisy world.
Thus, in this concert I am trying to explore the very subtle means
of variation and expression inherent in traditional folk singing
and folk songs. To seek the greatness in the small variations: Welcome
to join me in a journey into this musical world which I find so
fascinating.
The concert is a 45 minutes longs suit without presentations
or applause.

Swedish- French meeting
During spring 2008 Susanne has made a CD production on MA
Recordings together with musicans Christophe Deslingne (portativ),
Jean Lou Decamps (medieval fiddle and tambura) and Thierry Gomar
(percussion).
This is an amazing and creative collaboration between French medieval
and Swedish tradtional music - "Music out of time and country".
The project originated from an idéa by the American sound
engineer /producer Todd Garfinkle and was recorded in a medieval
church in Nevian in south of France in February 2008.
The release of the album is yet to be decided, and concerts will
follow - Look out for some good music to come!
