KRUS
- old sacred Swedish chorals with four "voices"
The
group KRUS was formed by Susanne to get the opportunity
to sing and play all those wonderful old melismatic and ornamentet
chorals that there are a lot of in the traditional Swedish music
together with favorit musicians Eva Åström Rune
(voice), Leo Svensson (cello) and Mats
Olofsson (cello).
The traditional
chorals where often solistic but used to be sung in churches and
at home together with other people so that a spontaneous polyfony
appered. That created a beautiful, meditative and strong music -
this music is the fundament for KRUS and the arrangements,
mainly done by Susanne and Eva, of the group.
In 2003 the
first album "Krokar, länkar och krus"
("Twists, strands and flourishes") was released
and got a good reception, by some regarded as the CD of the year.
KRUS have toured
in Sweden and on Irland, latest at a concert tour with "music
i väst" in 2007 (music at the West coast), when the group
played in both churches and castles! On that tour we had the opportunity
to meet another wonderful celloplayer - Magdalena Mårding
who substitutet for Mats Olofsson.
A
concert with KRUS?
KRUS like to perform in churches and small concert halls
with good acustics where the sound of the four "voices"
intertwine in a beautiful way. The concert program also includes
an exciting narrative journey through four centuries of sacred singing,
both about the music and the singers.
